Every child learns and develops differently and every family is unique. Some children and families have the tools to navigate their worlds, and others are still building their toolkit. Whether it’s navigating big emotions and behaviors, learning to express themselves, interacting with others appropriately, working through anxieties, or working towards meeting developmental milestones, children and parents can use the support of an experienced counselor who specializes in these areas.
Parenting is not an easy job and often has “speed bumps” along the way. Some parents and caregivers find that raising a child is different from what they may have expected. Others may have questions or concerns about their child's development and/or social-emotional skills and may be looking for guidance on how to better help their child. Sometimes parents and caregivers may need their own support to emotionally process through the “speed bumps” that come up along the way, as well as navigate their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Accessing support is healthy and beneficial for parents’ well-being and parenting abilities.
My role is to provide you the supports needed to make the changes you wish to see, and access the resources that will be most helpful for you and your family. Therapeutically, depending on a clients age and needs, I often utilize tools and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and client-centered therapy. I will also incorporate sensory-based activities, arts and crafts, social-emotional games/activities, and play-based interventions. Parent coaching is also provided to support parenting skills and therapeutic carry-over strategies to utilize within the home.
